Who Can Use the Yoga-Mad Cork Wedge?
Yoga wedges, or planks, are often used by Iyengar teachers and students to prevent hyperextension in various poses. They help prevent wrist pain in Down and Up Dog, and can be used in Full Wheel to raise the palms. This takes the pressure off the wrists, reducing the risk of wrist pain. You can also place the wedge under your heels in Down Dog or during a wide squat if you suffer from tight calves.
How To Use the Yoga-Mad Cork Yoga Wedge
You can incorporate the Yoga Wedge into lots of regular exercises, including the following:
- Push ups: Simply perform a push up with your palms on the slanted side of the wedge. You can place your hands further up or down the wedge to change the intensity of the exercise.
- Modified Crunches: Sit close to the ground on the slanted side of the wedge. Keep your knees bent and your feet flat on the ground, with arms crossed across your chest. Lean backwards until your back is against the wedge, and then lift up again. This will strengthen your core muscles.
